Seeking Social Scientist for Science Panel

NRPB is seeking nominations for an individual with expertise in the social sciences to fill one vacancy on its Science Panel. The Panel advises the Board on science planning and identifies research priorities; reviews proposals and technical evaluations received by the Board; and develops, collects, and evaluates statistical, biological, oceanographic, ecological, economic, social and other scientific information relevant to the Board's mission. Members are appointed for four-year terms, with a maximum of two sequential terms. Deadline for nominations is Friday, January 13, 2012. The Science Panel meets twice each year, and the Board covers the costs of travel, food, and lodging to attend these meetings and, if desired, the annual Alaska Marine Science Symposium.

Please submit nominations and self-nominations to the Board to cynthia.suchman@nprb.org or by regular mail to: Cynthia Suchman, Executive Director, North Pacific Research Board, 1007 West Third Avenue, Suite 100 , Anchorage, Alaska 99501. Nominations should include contact information, a one- to two-page curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference. The letters should come from people who have worked with the nominee on a range of relevant research activities. The list of nominees will be reviewed by a nominating committee created by the Board, and that committee’s recommendations will be forwarded to the Board for a final decision. Appointment of the new member of the Science Panel is expected by the end of February, in time for him/her to prepare for and participate in the Panel’s meeting(April 10-12, 2011.
