2005 Request for Proposals

  • Released: October 8, 2004
  • Amount: $4.5 million in Environmental Improvement and Restoration Funds and other funds available to NPRB for research projects starting in 2005.
  • Priorities: The 2005 priorities related directly to the Board’s draft science plan and associated implementation plan and encouraged proposals with the use of Local and Traditional Knowledge (LTK).

Proposal Receipt and Review

  • Received: 103
  • Amount: more than $24.5 million by Dec. 9, 2004
  • Evaluations: Technical evaluations occurred in early 2005; 264 reviews were obtained.  The Science Panel met in Anchorage on March 2-4 to review proposals and evaluations, and presented funding recommendations to the Board at its meeting on March 15-17.
  • Funded: $5,962,304 for 35 research projects

The Board's recommendations for 2005 were approved by the Secretary of Commerce acting through his designee, the Alaska Regional Administrator for NOAA Fisheries.
