Science Plan
Taking the long view
The Board sought guidance from the National Research Council (NRC) to help it develop a science plan for the North Pacific, Bering Sea and Arctic Ocean regions. The NRC sought help from those “in the water” by conducting site visits and workshops in these regions.
Three years of planning
The Science Plan charts a course for the next ten to 20 years. The Plan:
- identifies themes that encompass the interactions of all life (including human) with the ocean
- is dynamic and adaptable to new research and monitoring findings
- is consistent with the vision, mission and goals of the Board and its enabling legislation
- builds on the research programs of governmental and academic entities
