U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), chairman of the Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and the Coast Guard held a public hearing entitled, "The State of Our Salmon," on October 20, 2018. This hearing coincided with events surrounding the 2018 Alaska Federation of Natives conference held annually each October. Dr. Matthew Baker, NPRB Science Director, provided testimony at the hearing along with other panel members that included fishery biologists, industry and coastal community representatives, and fisheries managers. Of the seven witnesses that provided testimony, four were directly connected to the North Pacific Research Board. Active NPRB Board member, Katrina Hoffman, former Board member Chris Oliver, and Dr. Milo Adkison, active Science Panel member, all represented their respective organizations and agencies.
